I love Fall. As everyone is complaining “Summer is over, nooooo!” I’m the girl who is like:
Fall is the perfect time of year. It has always felt like a refresh button to me, a new start. The weather is perfect. That first crisp air day and I just feel brand new. Knowing that my favorite season is RIGHT around the corner, I wanted to get crafty and make a nice fall inspired wreath for my front door.
I didn’t want to make a completely fall look, so I can use the wreath in other seasons as well, (c’mon, who doesn’t love a multi-purpose wreath.)
My first step is always inspiration. I found this on Pinterest:
This was done by a gorgeous shop on Etsy that you can find here. My plan was to buy this wreath if mine didn’t turn out, but I wanted to see if I could make it, and that way I’d really appreciate it more each time I pull into the driveway.
I went to Michael’s to get my supplies and to try this out.
List of supplies:
-18 inch grapevine wreath
– Letter B
– Acrylic paint for letter
(already own a hot glue gun)
I found this bad boy for $4.99, so clearly I was sold on that.
I searched for fake flowers that were on sale (those bad boys can get pricey.) I found hydrangea ones that looked like fall but could work with other seasons. They were 40% off so the total for them came to $8.99, I think. My hydrangea were also more brown than this photo. I also got some acrylic paint in vanilla and a wooden B that I used a 40% off coupon on so it came to 79 cents!
I also cheated a little bit and bought a pre-made ribbon for $7.99, but the ribbon they were selling was $9.99 and I’d still have to make the bow, so I figured…let’s get the pre-made one for this project.
So I combined everything together, painted my B in vanilla paint, placed the flowers and ribbon, hot glued the items into place that need it, and place the B on with a TON of hot glue.
My new front door wreath!
I was super excited with how it turned so now it’s hanging on the front door, see the many shots of it below!
I changed up the ribbon placement on mine, just because I liked it better on the bottom. I’m super thrilled with how mine turned out, especially for $21 compared to buying for $53. The quality I’m SURE is not the same, but I made it and that makes me happy.
Another adventure in crafting!
