Fashion is all about finding pieces and styles you love and creating new ways to wear them. I tend to lean edgy, if we are diagnosing my usual style. I have recently started enjoying more preppy pieces (see all the striped numbers I’ve been posting.) I decided…it’s time to mix these two for a fun look.
How does this all pull together…plaid. The beauty that is plaid can lean either way, preppy or edgy, so I used it to create a look that’s both.
For my bottoms I went for edge with a coated skinny jean from Stitch Fix.
For my top, a plaid top (also from Stitch Fix,) layered under a cowl neck sweater that I picked up from TJ Maxx years ago.
I went for a heeled boot (hidden by our long grass of course.) This helped bring the outfit together.
Hair and accessories had to go edgy on this one.
Earrings are Rocksbox. This fake cuff is EVERYTHING. The other earring matches and is just a stud. I’m obsessed.
For hair I went with a braided piece in front pulled into a tousled pony tail for some additional edge. Super easy to do.
-Separate a small section of your hair in front, pull the rest of your hair back.
– Braid that section to the side, I divided in three sections and braided them under the middle piece.
– Tie the braid off then pull it into your pony tail.
-This will create the lil poof you see in the first frontal photo!
